This Week's Happenings in photos and graphics
The Power of One
The Muslim Community Center—our new One Can A Week participant—helped us set an amazing new record for potato donations to the Community Food Bank. The previous record was 268 5-pound bags or 1,340 pounds. The record now stands at 502 5-pound bags or a pickup truck smashing 2,120 lbs. (I had to make two trips to the food bank because my pickup can only carry 1,100 lbs. safely.)
So to sum up, our potato donation this week was 2,120 pounds plus 390 pounds (Sprouts, Rincon Market and neighbors) for a grand total of 2,510 pounds.
The best part about this new record is that it will be broken again soon. The folks at the community center are already thinking of ways to get all of their members excited about helping more and more needy families here in Tucson.
See you Sunday,
Peter
